ranking は個々の順位づけ行為・結果を指すが、standings はリーグなどの現在の順位表全体を指す。
league standings / current standings / top of the standings / final standings / overall standings
英語 stand「立つ」の現在分詞 standing の複数形→standings。「立っている位置」から，順位を意味する。
