規範的な
normative は「こうあるべき」という基準を示すことで、descriptive（事実をありのまま述べる）と対比される。standard は基準そのもの、prescriptive は命令的な指示で、normative は規範的な価値判断を指す。

ラテン語 norma「大工の直角定規，基準」→ フランス語 normatif → 英語 normative。「基準を定める」から、規範的であることを意味する。
