change は変化一般だが、deformation は力を受けて物の形が変わることに限って使う。distortion は像・音・事実のゆがみにも使え、deformation はより物理的な形の変化を指す。

ラテン語 de-「離れて」＋ forma「形」→ deformare「形を崩す」→ deformatio → 英語 deformation。「形が崩れること」から、変形を意味する。
